Just Like Steve

I filled out a long questionnaire on some innocent dating site only to reach the end and be told I had to fork out money to get connected to my knight in shining armor. But, I know already the kind of man I am looking for. He needs to be just like Steve.

Steve is the kind of husband that raises the bar for husbands everywhere. He dances with his wife, makes gingerbread houses with her, builds habitat houses with his sons, sings hymns, shares the peace and kissed me on the cheek once when I needed it the most. Steve is one of the major reasons I belong to the church that I do. He demonstrated a fellowship with me which means he demonstrated fellowship with everyone as a representative of God's love. Steve and Vicki = God's love. Those verses we mumbled on our wedding day? Well, they know them and mean them. They live them.

Steve's days on this earth are numbered. We are all grieving already. We need to know why this is happening and more importantly, what do we do next? Well, I think the answer is, that we do what Steve would do. He would not question. He'd smile and offer a warm hug and he'd develop a plan and a way to execute it. And, now I know why he is so special. Because, we all need to know how to continue on. He provided us with years of example, to know how this is done, this awful thing that is happening. There are globs of people I would much rather this happen to. He is the last person I would want this to happen to, along with Vicki. They reached out to me in a big way when I was at my lowest. And so, now, I ask God for the wisdom to help in the way I need to, whatever way that is. We all need to have the faith to do what is best for the boys and for Vicki. I ask God right now: please help me be the kind of friend to them that Steve would want us to be.
