The Rest is Gravy

Have you ever been so tired that, if you could just lie down on the floor, you could probably fall asleep? I think that is where I am at. I cleaned two houses today, which equals, let's see, 5 bathrooms... and both houses were pretty bad, so, I am just wasted.

The nice thing about today is getting a 'friend' request from a dear friend from college. She was like my hero... she was doin it, out there, making a name for herself in the film editing world. We worked together at the deli at the union, and then hung out together. She had so much more confidence than I did.. and she just was like, 'screw it, I'm going to do it, all the wayy' and, man, she has done IT! Wow. And, I liked her so much. What a cool lady. Yay, Joyce.

So, it is worth it, this day to reconnect to an old friend.

I had this really deep thing for this blog written this morning, all about greed being bad, all the shit that comes from greed being bad.... and, yet again, it disappeared. Dammit. Basically, in a nutshell, I said that greed is to blame for the oil disaster, and locally for the idiots at KU who decided to sell tickets and pocket the money... now that I think of it, it wasn't all that profound what I was saying. I guess the 'gist of it is that I hate greed. I am of the belief you take only what you need, not what you WANT. I will never be rich; being able to support myself and my kids is all that I am worried about. I want them to be able to support themselves, too and to figure out how to do that... that's it. The rest is gravy.

Speaking of gravy.... made some kick ass gravy tonight. Made my roux, added vegetable broth this time, and it turned out great. Roast beef, potatos, greeny beans (as my son used to call them) and perfect gravy. And, yes, all this, after a day of cleaning other peoples' funk.

So, now, off to mow and then to collapse.

Till tomorrow!
